Jun 07, 2015 OS/2 was once seen as the challenger to Microsoft Windows. But it didn't quite pan out, and the rest is history. Microsoft IBM OS/2 Warp 4 Virtualbox Installation and first look - Duration.

Warp
  1. Installing OS/2 4.52 (Warp 4) on VMware ESXI Installers with floppy disk boot images require swapping the disk images which is tedious. Find ISO images with 1 boot CDROM ISO and 1 install CDROM ISO – this is a much easier approach for installing. The Boot ISO and English ISO from this collection on archive.org work well.
  2. Lore in these parts is that I ran OS/2 for a long time in college and management got wind of that and asked if I could get OS/2 up and running in VMWare. Which - I did (Didn't get around to installing the fix packs or getting the networking setup). I know VMWare can support NT 4. But that importing options are quite limited for both of these.
  3. There may be ways to run some versions of OS/2 after tweaking VMware in various unsupported way, but that is pointless because there are better solutions available. Virtual PC Now Virtual PC is a completely different story. In VPC 2007, OS/2 Warp 4 FP15 and Convenience Pack 1 and 2 are officially supported guest operating systems.

FWIW, I'm not sure why you have not just tried it. It's pretty
trivial to add another virtual to an ESXi setup, unless you are
resource constrained.
If it makes you feel more comfortable, I know folks that run VMWare
vSphere ESXi on boxes such as an IBM 3650 M3 7945-AC1 with multiple
flavors of OS/2 installed. Needles to say, they run fast.

The only solution for trolls is your newsreader's filters. By
definition trolls do not think of themselves as trolls. They tend to
be output only, so anything you say to them in unlike to affect their
actions.

eComStation is supported in VMware, so Warp 4.52 should work too,
but I have never tried it.
I have however been running eComstation under VirtualBox for many years,
and that works really really well - with hardware VT-X/AMD-V enabled.
I'm not sure, why you call this for 'Desktop virtualization' - eCS runs just
as fast as guest, as on real hw.
BTW, this is really a bad group for real OS/2 questions, because all real
users have fled a long time ago, due to a lot of trolls in here, so
